This Year’s Love Island Contestants Will Have To Hand Over Their Social Media Passwords

Ahead of this year’s Love Island, it seems there’s yet to be another rule in place.

As part of a new screening process, applicants will reportedly be required to hand over their social media passwords to the screening team.

According to The Sun, their accounts will be trawled and flagged for hate speech, violent images, toxic language and adult images.

Speaking to the publication, a source explained: “They’ve been left embarrassed in the past so this new check will flag up any issues and ensure they don’t put any wrong’uns on national TV.”

Just last year, contestant Danny Biddy came under fire after appearing on the show when it was found that he used a racial slur in an Instagram comment.

At the time, fans were demanding that he be removed from the villa, to which Danny then released an apology reading: “I’d like to take the time to apologise to anyone that may have taken offence to my inappropriate remark.

”I never meant anything malicious by this comment at all. I am not a racist person and it’s unacceptable language and ignorant.”

Recently, it was also revealed that the show is now accepting applications from people who are in relationships.

According to the application form, which you can find here if you fancy stepping into the villa this year, the applicant is asked if they are single or not – and if they reply no? Well, they are then told to: “Please describe your current relationship situation.”
