Major news for Swifties this morning has the singer once again announced a surprise album which already as a release date: October 21st.

Taylor is infamous for dropping surprise new music when fans least expect it and at last night’s VMA’s while accepting her award for Video Of The Year, for All Too Well (10-minute version) (Taylor’s version), she decided it was the right time to share the news.

During her speech she said, “I’m so honoured to have been recognised alongside such amazing artists and directors. For the first time in VMA history, four of the directors in the Video of the Year category are women. You guys, I’m just so proud of what we made… and we wouldn’t have been able to make this short film if it wasn’t for the fans.

“I wouldn’t be able to re-record my albums if it wasn’t for you… you emboldened me to do that.

“Because you’ve been so generous, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand-new album comes out on 21st October.”

Yep, brand-new as in never heard before music. Fans have been anticipating a new re-recording from the singer as she works her way through her previous albums making ‘her version’ of them after her original versions were sold to Scooter Braun in 2019, an arrangement that Taylor was reportedly unaware of until the sale became public knowledge.

Sharing more information about her new album on Instagram Taytay posted a sneak peek at what to expect from the album Midnights.

She wrote, “Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.”

In her Instagram post, she continued, “We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t – right this minute – about to make some fateful life-altering mistake.

“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.”

It sounds like just the heartbreaking torment we need on a cosy October evening, get your tissues ready, we know we’ll be sobbing.
