The Bear is coming back.

FX have announced this week that The Bear has officially been renewed for a third season, which means we’re about to have the gorgeous Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri gracing our screens once again.

Thank you, TV gods!

So, what can we expect from a new season with our favourite chefs back in action?

Here’s everything you need to know.

What will it be about?

In season one, we got acquainted with Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and the crew at The Beef. We learned that Carmy was grieving the loss of his brother, and had big plans to create the upscale restaurant they had always dreamed of.

In season two, The Beef became The Bear, and we watched as the restaurant got a serious overhaul – however, while the dining experience is on the up, tensions within the group need ironing out, stat.

While we don’t have much to go on in terms of what’s coming in the next season, we do have a few clues!

We left off with Carmy stuck in the walk in fridge, monologuing about how he’s not sure what he has room for in his life; including girlfriend Claire, who conveniently overhears. Awkward!

We can imagine, then, that season three will detail the pair’s either reconciliation or official break up. Could this leave room for some romance between Carmy and Sydney (Ayo Edebiri)?

Unfortunately, according to Ayo, we might not get the love connection fans are dying to see. Speaking on season three, Ayo told The Hollywood Reporter that Syd and Carmy isn’t a likely plot line.

“It’s really not our thought process when we’re making the show, and I understand it can be part of a show’s culture — but I don’t think they’re going to get what they want.” Aww.

Character Marcus (Lionel Boyce) had his phone blowing up with messages from his mother’s carer the last time we saw him, so unfortunately we may have to deal with another loss for one of the team in season three.

While chatting to Distractify, Lionel confessed that he’s ready for Marcus to go through it. “I would like to see [Marcus] go through anything as long as we get a Season 3.

“I feel the same way as I did after Season 1, where it finished and I was like, ‘I truly don’t know where the show’s gonna go’…All the writers do such a great job of arcing out specific stories for each character, so I’m excited to see where they’ll take it.”

Interestingly, Ayo Edebiri will get a little say herself in how things pan out, as it’s been revealed that she will direct a few upcoming episodes!

While chatting to Esquire in the summer, show creator Christopher Storer spoke of having Ayo by his side while filming the Christmas episode in season two.

“It was also great having Ayo on set with me that week — she’s going to direct a few episodes next year so she was an important set of fresh eyes.”

Exciting!

Who’s in the cast?

There’s been no new cast announcements, and we can safely assume we’re going to get all of the OG employees back and busy.

However, knowing The Bear’s penchant for surprising us with famous faces (Olivia Colman, Bob Odenkirk, Jamie Lee Curtis and Will Poulter to name a few!) it’s likely we may get another few exciting cameos in season three.

Watch this space!

When will we get it?

So far, we don’t know when the next season will land in our laps.

It’s a tough time for production due to the WGA and SAGAFTRA strikes, so it might be a while before we can revisit Carmy and the rest – no matter how long it takes, we’ll be patiently waiting!
