What’s The Story With The Dubai Chocolate Craze?

And can you get it in Ireland?

@yumzoha Replying to @S. how to make the Dubai Chocolate ๐Ÿ’• Iโ€™ve linked my YouTube video in my bio so everyone can easily access the products I used ๐Ÿ˜ (the Katafi and Molds etc) #kunafa #pistachio #dubaichocolate #chocolate #bakingtiktok โ™ฌ original sound – Zoha ๐Ÿงš๐Ÿฆ‹

Dubai – known for its hot climate, tall buildings, and abundance of Irish people.

And now, chocolate too?

Dubai chocolate has taken over TikTok, and if you haven’t been subjected to footage of its creamy, crunchy, pistachio filling, you’re probably the only one.

All over the app, creators and chocolatiers are making their own versions of the bar (which originated in the UAE city), complete with perfectly moulded squares, decadent filling, and a chocolate snap sure to make your mouth water.

But why exactly has Dubai chocolate gone viral, and can you get it here in Ireland?

Dubai chocolate was created by businesswoman Sarah Hamouda, who was desperately trying to satisfying her pregnancy cravings for traditional Arab dessert, knafeh.

Knafeh is made with kadayif, a thin and sweet pastry that comes from Turkey, and is mixed with pistachio cream and tahini to create the now-iconic Dubai chocolate filling.

Milk chocolate is dusted with glitter, filled with the creamy creation, and set, creating a bar that’s satisfying both in taste and texture.

@leanneschapman No itโ€™s insane! I love it! The crunch is the best part!!!!! I get the hype now hahaha. Linked it for you all ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿซ #dubaichocolate #chocolate #tiktokmademebuyit #fyp #food #mukbang #tastetest #eatwithme โ™ฌ original sound – Leanne Chapman x

Here’s where you can get it in Ireland.

Sugar Plum Sweetery

Located in Mullingar, small business Sugar Plum Sweetery is one of the first Irish businesses to create their own version of Dubai chocolate.

Made with crunchy toasted kadayif pastry smothered in pistachio cream and tahini, and enrobed in smooth and creamy milk chocolate, their bar will set you back โ‚ฌ9.95 online, or in store.ย

Beware though, orders are restricted to five per person, due to extreme demand.

Offaly based Bon Chocolatiers have created their own pistachio bar, inspired by the viral Dubai chocolate.

The bar combines crispy kadayif pastry and Italian pistachios, enrobed in smooth milk chocolate. You can order online here for โ‚ฌ7.ย

This bar is smaller and doesn’t have the iconic chocolate snap, but still boasts that crunchy, creamy taste.

SuperValu

Alright, this isn’t *the* Dubai chocolate, but if you’re desperate for a decent dupe, SuperValu have got you covered.

Their Italian Novi piรบ pistachio chocolate bar is filled with pistachio cream and chunky pistachio pieces – and even better, it’s only โ‚ฌ4.48.

Sรธstrene Grene

Danish retailer Sรธstrene Grene have also created their own version of the viral chocolate, available to buy in all of their stores around Europe.

The bar is described as milk chocolate with pistachio filling, though it remains unclear as to whether the treat also contains crunchy kadayif.

Happy eating!
