The Exact Details Of Johnny Depp’s Divorce Payout To Amber Heard Have Been Revealed
Amber's lawyer says it is a 'great day' for her.
After months of back-and-forth, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have come to a divorce settlement, the details of which have been made public.
The pair had been married for just under 18 months when they split in May 2016 amid reports of domestic violence and verbal abuse. Amber’s divorce filings mention one April 2016 incident in particular in which her then-husband “shoved her to the floor.”
Johnny denies the abuse claims, but as per the divorce settlement he will pay out $7 million (€6.6m) to Amber, which she says she will donate in full to two charities, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. The settlement details were agreed on back in August, but were not made official until now as it was unclear whether Johnny would pay the money out to Amber or directly to the charities, the BBC reports.
As per the rest of the agreement, Amber will keep the couple’s dogs Pistol and Boo, who she famously illegally “smuggled” into Australia in 2015 during a press trip with Johnny. She will also drop her request for a continued restraining order against her ex husband. Johnny, meanwhile, will retain sole possession of his real estate which includes the private island in the Bahamas on which the couple wed in early 2015.
Neither of the pair are permitted to discuss the relationship currently, and there will be no spousal support for either actor.
Amber’s lawyer Pierce O’Donnell said it was a “great day” for the actress. “All she wanted was to be divorced and now she is,” he told reporters.
