Love Island 2021 Set To Be The ‘Biggest’ Season In History Of The Show

We're beyond ready for this.

After a one year hiatus due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it looks like Love Island is set to make a return for summer 2021 and we couldn’t be more excited.

The show, which last aired in January 2020 – it’s first and since, last winter season, is promising a bigger and better return this summer, with the show apparently airing for longer than ever before too.

Speaking to the Daily Star, a source has reported that ITV are keen on making the show work, similar to how they’ve made other competition shows including Dancing On Ice work despite the pandemic.

After rumours that the show could be based in England due to travel restrictions, it looks like Love Island is still holding out hope for Spain, with the source adding:

“It is likely they will need to quarantine all contestants.

“They also think they’ll need to fly over three times as many contestants than normal in case some of them fall ill.”

But, keeping more singletons overseas and in separate hotels to follow guidelines won’t be cheap and all going ahead, the show is going to have to up its budget, as well as making the production a bigger and better comeback season.

Host of the show, Laura Whitmore also pined for Love Island over the weekend, sharing a throwback to the winter season of 2020 when Love Island took to Cape Town, South Africa, Laura wrote:

“I think we could all do with some Love this summer…” she wrote.
