How To Remove Brassy Tones From Your Blonde Hair At Home, According To TikTok

Has anyone else fallen down a TikTok rabbit hole?

TikTok, a quarantiner’s dream.

Yep, that’s how we’re referring to ourselves now, as ‘quarantiners‘.

Firstly, it makes us sound younger due to the “teen” like sound and secondly, it’s better than ‘prisoner in my own home’, right?

But as we’re adjusting to this new normal, we’re realising just how nifty we are when we go into beauty survival mode.

From waxing our own eyebrows, removing our own Shellac nails, making our own homemade face and hair masks –  we’ve become self-care hack experts.

And the latest hack we’re totally keen to try is one that’s doing the rounds on TikTok. God bless TikTok and it’s vast community of clever teens.

User Tiffany @trpayne explained that she left purple shampoo in her dry blonde hair for one hour before washing it out and the result was “a lot blonder, frostier…”.

Tiffany also noted that the length caused some pieces to have a little light purple tinge which she also liked, but if you want to avoid that, leave the shampoo in for 40 minutes like other users suggest to give your hair a bright revival.

Some however, embraced the purple effect in their hair, leaving it on for over an hour, with others opting for overnight. Jace @urblondebby left it on for over an hour, while Mackensie @mackensiemintz left it in overnight and we’ve got to admit, we’re loving how it turned out.

Could now be the perfect time to play with colour? It’s very seldom that we get time like this away from everyone else and so, we’ve got to admit… testing this trend does sound tempting.

But if it’s more of a nurturing route you want to go down, then why not try one of our four amazing DIY hair masks. If you’re not sure what your hair wants or needs, but you still want to give it some TLC, look no further.

Hair mask home recipe

All you need to do is mix two tablespoons of natural yogurt with one tablespoon of honey. The yogurt adds a boost of protein to help strengthen your hair, while the lactic acid in yogurt will help give it a deep cleanse. The honey helps your hair retain moisture while also soothing and softening your locks. Leave in the lengths of your hair for 20 minutes, then rinse out and wash as normal. Plus, this one can be used as a face mask too, so you’re getting a lot of bang for your, eh, yogurt.
