Eat Your Way To Good Skin
STELLAR PROMOTION: Small changes can make a big impact!
As you’re probably aware, we love a new beauty launch here at STELLAR HQ. But when it comes to ensuring that our skin looks it’s best, there’s only so much that the latest day cream can do. To give yourself your best shot at that elusive stress-free, clear skin day – start with what you’re putting in your mouth.
Cut Back on Caffeine
According to Cleanmarine Nutritional Therapist Sarah Brereton, excessive caffeine consumption could stop you getting vital nutrients from your food.
If you’re drinking 6 caffeinated drinks a day, she recommends cutting back to 3-4 maximum daily. If you do have the strength to cut ties with coffee, opt for a herbal tea, or even boiled water with cucumber (it’s nice, we promise!)
Sleep
We’ve all seen how a lack of sleep can show up on our face. While big nights out are sadly still off the cards, late nights watching TV or scrolling on your phone can leave you feeling tired and low in energy, which can reflect in your skin. Tiredness can also sometimes prompt us to reach for processed foods, or put off that walk – all the little things that will help us feel better overall. If you can, try and set a regular bedtime schedule – getting to bed and rising at the same time each morning can help with your nightly routine.
Ensure You’re Getting Vitamin B2
While you’re decreasing your coffee consumption, think about increasing your Vitamin B2 intake. Also known as Riboflavin, this vitamin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. Good sources of vitamin B2 include milk, eggs, mushrooms and yoghurt, but if you want to ensure that you’re getting the right amount every day then Cleanmarine For Women has you covered. The daily supplement contains all the vitamin B2 you need, as well as loads of other good stuff.
Managing energy levels
B vitamins not only contribute to our skin’s maintenance, but can help to support your energy levels. Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, as well as to normal energy-yielding metabolism
“When our bodies are under stress both emotionally and physically, we require 50% more B vitamins and this can be difficult through diet alone,” according to Sarah Brereton, “When we are stressed our body produces cortisol and this affects hormones released in the second half of our cycles and affects our levels of B vitamins and therefore energy levels. Of course, we know this will affect our mood and we are less likely to go for that walk, meet our friends and do extra chores.” Sarah recommends B Vitamins as an excellent solution for helping with these energy dips, giving our bodies an extra insurance policy that can help ensure you’re getting B vitamins into your diet daily. It’s important to remember though, as your body cannot store any of these water-soluble B vitamins you need to stock up all over again for tomorrow. That’s where Cleanmarine For Women comes in, giving you the long-term nutritional support to supplement a healthy diet
Reduce your sugar consumption
Working from home has meant that healthy “meal prep” has gone out the window for many of us. Stress, boredom and simply the fact that it’s available has led many of us to snack on processed, sugary foods. While it’s entirely understandable, this can lead to dips in your energy levels, and excessive sugar consumption can also have an impact on your skin.
So what else should we be eating? Sarah says meals with a balance of protein, healthy fats, carbs and vitamins can help to keep your energy levels balanced, and help you feel your best too. Sarah recommends a smoothie with banana, avocado, berries and spinach for a nutrient rich breakfast, while something like a superfood salad with kale, rocket, salmon and brown rice is perfect for lunch.
Cleanmarine contains Omega 3, phytonutrients and vitamins such as Vitamins B1, B2, B6; and Vitamin D3, which contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
