The Big Beauty Trends To Look Out For In 2020

The trends that will be gracing our Insta' feeds, and IRL too.

2019 was a big year for beauty buffs, with trends from bright and bold eyeliner to the fluffiest of brows, thanks to brow lamination later on in the year. And it seems 2020 will be no different when it comes to beauty trends.ย For a brand new decade, we sussed out what’s likely to be the most popular in the big bad world of beauty for 2020.

Neon seems to be making yet another comeback. With everything from brightly coloured mascara (sudden flashback to naughties blue mascara) to a hint of neon eyeshadow on the inner corner of your eye. While we saw a bit of this in 2019, but 2020 isn’t about full neon, but more so subtle little hints. Now that we can get on board with.

With caught up with Karen of Lovely Girlie Bits, who let us in on what’s gonna be big for nails. “I got a sneak peek at a trend for 2020 at London Fashion Week where Marian Newman, an ambassador for CND, showed us behind the scenes at the Halpern show.ย  According to Marian, and now me, clear nails are going to be the next big thing and if that isn’t your jam, then negative space on the nails will be tres fashionable.ย  We’re talking coloured tips with the rest of the nail being bare and it’s not something I ever would have expected to hear from a nail brand, but I love how unexpected it is!ย  And also, it’s something that’s achievable for a nail noviceย like moi.”

Smizing before my busy season hits ๐Ÿ˜ I love the run up to Christmas and in my line of work, itโ€™s when I do a good chunk of my collabs. Iโ€™ve chosen some truly whopper ones this year and canโ€™t wait to get creative, to work my ass off and to give you gift ideas along with a few extra bits thrown in for good measure ๐Ÿ˜ And bridies, the office is getting decorated this weekend ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ„ Itโ€™s my only weekend between now and Christmas where I donโ€™t have anything on and so Iโ€™m going to make the most of it because between now and December 23rd Iโ€™d say , Iโ€™ll be working almost every day and appreciating the fact that I get to do what I love. 2020 could be a big year for pared back beauty. More so having your skin looking like skin, rather than looking like well-done makeup. Which is harder to achieve than you may think. Think more healthy glow, rather than perfectly contoured. Bonnie Ryan is backing this, with the hopes that the Insta Crease won’t make it to 2020, “the Instagram cut crease – itโ€™s just not my personal style. I can see how itโ€™s a work of art but itโ€™s just not my thing.”

As well as dreaming of saying farewell to the Insta-famous cut crease, Bonnie is hoping for brows to be big in 2020, “I hope they literally stay as big in 2020! I am a huge fan of a big fluffy brow and I feel brow lamination has hit Dublin strong this year – and I am all about it!”

Another trend, or theme, that we can completely get on board with for the new decade is that of customised beauty, doing what works for you. Whether that be iridescent eyeshadow, or the most fluffy of brows. Bonnie is another one to back this, saying “there is a growing desire to reflect your own individual beauty look and I feel people are breaking away from trying to look like everyone else. This โ€˜customisationโ€™ trend shall we call it! 2020 is all about being โ€œyouโ€! Thatโ€™s a trend I can get on board with.” You do you, boo.
