Why The Bridge House Hotel In The Midlands Should Be Your Next Hotel Break Away

I'm already planning my next trip back!

Fancy a trip to the midlands? Well, look no further than the Bridge House Hotel for your relaxing breakaway. Centrally located in the thriving town of Tullamore at the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East, the Bridge House Hotel is less than 90 minutes from Dublin, Limerick and Galway making it the ideal meeting point for a weekend away with friends, family or indeed your very own wedding reception.

First impressions were extremely positive. Upon arrival, the hotel had a great buzz to it and we were met with the warmest of welcomes from staff. Live music graced our ears as we entered the elegant lobby which features an impressive grand crystal chandelier and magnificent marble stairway. After checking in we headed straight to our room, which was beautifully decorated and clearly designed with comfort in mind. As I brought my mum, we booked a twin room, however, they have a range of bedrooms to choose from including luxurious suites, corporate and spacious family rooms – catering for all your needs! Combined with a traditional and homely feel, each room is equipped with all the typical essentials and mod-cons to make your stay that bit more enjoyable.

After treating ourselves to a glass of bubbly and wandering around the town shopping centre (which is directly across the hotel’s entrance – how handy!) it was time to check in for our spa treatments. The Bridge House Spa & Beauty offer an array of relaxing treatments and bespoke packages to help you escape the realities of everyday life. Both myself and my mum enjoyed a back, neck, shoulder & scalp massage, followed by an Elemis taster facial, which I couldn’t recommend enough. The massage eased away any tension I had, working out the knots in my shoulders while the facial left my skin glowing!

Following our treatments it was a quick trip back to our rooms for a shower and another glass of bubbly before we got ready for dinner. Our meal took place in the Balcone Italiano Restaurant which is located just above the main lobby and encompasses the hotel’s grand staircase. However, with three other unique diner outlets available in the form of the Char Bistro, The Bridge House bar & grill and the Coffee shop there really is something for everyone. Now, back to the Balcone Italiano Restaurant which is actually one of Offaly’s most loved Italian eateries – would you believe! So, you can imagine our delight when we found out that it was located in the hotel itself. To start, I had the smoked salmon and crab roulade, followed by the Italian herb-marinated roast chicken breast and an Irish coffee to finish the night off. The food was excellent all around, and I’m surprised we didn’t have to be rolled back to our room, we were so contently full!

Alas, we eventually found our footing and retreated back to our beds for a chill night in, where we cosied up and watched a movie. After a relaxing night’s sleep, we grabbed a delicious breakfast, which is served buffet style, so you can pick and choose what appeals to you in the moment, before packing up and reluctantly making our way back to reality.

To sum up, The Bridge House was nothing short of spectacular. The staff were so warm and welcoming throughout our stay, making us feel right at home, while the food and facilities had us raving at any given moment we could. So, to put it simply, if you’re looking for an enjoyable yet relaxing night away that’s conveniently located no matter where you’re coming from in Ireland, the Bridge House Hotel makes for the perfect venue!
