If it’s a crazy weekend away you’re looking for, then try Cork city. Whilst the sprawling county has a multitude of beaches, hikes and natural landscape, its nightlife is also one of the biggest attractions of the city. Wine and dine in some of the city’s most notable restaurants, including Goldie for locally sourced seafood and Moroccan food in Orso.

Why not take a wander around the English Market to pick up some tasty treats? And you have to check out some of the city’s best bars and nightclubs, including Crow Lane and Rearden’s.

For a beach break – Sligo

If you’re a beach lover like myself, then the long, sandy beaches of Sligo have to be on your summer getaway list. Escape to one of the amazing beaches in Sligo, like Rosses Point or Streedagh beach. Whether you love long walks by the Atlantic Ocean or swimming in the vast waters, there is a Sligo beach for you (also coupled with the most gorgeous villages for a post swim snack!).

Just make sure you double check which beaches you can swim in before heading out! Why not try a new water sport and learn to surf with Sligo’s iconic Surf School in Strandhill? It will be an active holiday you won’t forget.
