Kildare comedian and actress Aisling Bea makes her movie musical debut this week as the lead actress in the cinematic adaptation of Take That’s smash-hit stage musical The Band.

Despite using Take That music, Aisling Bea has clarified that this is not a Take That movie. Greatest Days follow five best friends who have the night of their lives seeing their favourite boy band in concert. The group of friends reunite twenty-five years later in the hopes that seeing their favourite boy band one more time will reignite their friendship.

Even though the Take That members; Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald are the executive producers of the film, Aisling explained that she actually only met the band briefly during a night shoot. While speaking with Goss.ie ahead of the movie’s release, the Irish actress said: “We only met them for that tiny cameo that they have.”

“That was doing a night shoot, 3am in Greece, after five weeks of intense filming… It was quite an intense time to meet them, but they were very, very sweet and seemed to be kind of happy to be there.”

For many women meeting a beloved boy band like Take That would be a dream come true, but for Aisling her childhood inspirations all came from Girl Bands.  “I often think you know, with boy bands, you can love them and it’s a great way of getting together with friends but with girl bands, you can associate yourself with some of them. When the Spice Girls came out, they all had such different personalities and I was like wow” Aisling said when talking to IMAGE magazine.

Greatest Days hits Irish cinemas on June 16.
