Andrew Scott: ‘I Never Felt Like I Was Failing When I Wasn’t As Well Known’

Andrew Scott has been making Ireland proud on the main stage.

From Fleabag to All of Us Strangers to Ripley, he’s been smashing it time and time again.

While he’s definitely become a household name in recent years, Andrew made his film debut in 1995.

STELLAR was delighted to catch up with Andrew on the red carpet at this year’s IFTA Awards.

We had to ask was he proud of his achievements over the years.

“I am proud of them. I’ve always worked as an actor, which isn’t something that every actor can say. I never really felt like I was failing when I wasn’t as well known,” he tells us.

He goes on to say: “And I don’t necessarily feel like I’m succeeding now that I’m a little bit well known. I just want to keep doing as much different stuff as possible.”

However, he is delighted to be on the red carpet at the IFTAs: “Stuff like this is really, really fun. And I do feel proud, not just for myself but for all the amazing Irish talent. And they’re really doing well across the globe.”

So does he think that right now there’s an appetite for Irish stars on an international stage?

“I mean there’s no doubt about it! I mean are you kidding?” he laughs.
