Dumped Islander Jess ‘Excited’ To Continue With Hugo On The Outside

STELLAR PROMOTION: "It's very early days..."

Dumped Love Islander Jess has been chatting about what’s next for her and Hugo since leaving the villa, and she’s excited to see how things go…

How does it feel to be leaving the Love Island Villa?

It’s a bittersweet moment, I always said if I made it past week one I’d be proud of myself, so to make it to week 5 is amazing. It was nothing like I expected, it was everything and more.

Everyone has been beyond lovely from the amazing, Islanders I was with in the Villa to the production team and crew, everyone has just made my experience even more than I ever imagined it to be.

You’ve had a whirlwind experience in the Villa, talk to us about your connections with Ronnie, Wil, and finally Hugo?

Personality wise, Ronnie is similar to the sort of guy I’d go for on the outside so our connection grew from that. He’s got such funny banter so the attraction came from that but he didn’t know who the prize was, which meant our time was cut short so I had to walk away. Saying that, I wish him and Harriett all the best. I gave things a go with Sean and Wil but it just wasn’t meant to be.

With Hugo we saw on screen this week that he was having a change of mind, how have things been left with you now? Will you be meeting each other on the outside?

It’s very early days but from the moment I saw him I knew he was exactly what I’d been waiting for. I’m one of those people who knows what I want from the offset, I’m very honest, maybe sometimes too honest which is why I didn’t want to force things with the other boys, but patience paid off and I’m glad I met Hugo.

It took me a long time to find a connection but I’m so glad I did. I’m looking forward to us continuing things on the outside and he did say he likes Manchester so you never know. It’s exciting times ahead for us, we aren’t putting pressure on it, but I’m looking forward to carrying on what we had in the Villa.

Are there any other boys you would have liked to have got to know?

Not really, I initially liked Wil but he had a connection with Uma who is the most amazing girl and such a good friend. I would never get in the way of someone else’s happiness for my own.

I’m quite picky, but I’m a woman who knows what she wants and I’m glad I can say that I tried my best to explore as many connections as possible, whilst being true to myself. I’m glad it’s paid off with Hugo.

You made some great bonds in the Villa, who will you miss the most?

I’m a people’s person, that’s my job, so I knew I’d get on with everybody. This journey has taught me to never underestimate how important friendships are. I was so close with both the girls and boys in the Villa and I love them all individually. I’m a tough cookie and rarely cry but every time one of my girls left I was always in tears.

The relationships you form are so special, I’m so proud of everyone and think we will all be friends for life. I was like everyone’s big sister but Samantha, Nicole and Uma were so lovely and people I hope to have in my life for a very long time. Nicole for the  win, she’s my little sister and best friend. I only have nice things to say about everyone, even Harriett was lovely although we didn’t see eye to eye on the odd occasion.

How would you summarise your Love Island experience in a few words?

Unbelievable, life changing and the best experience of my life. I’d do it again ten times over.

Love Island continues tonight on Virgin Media 2 at 9pm.
