Hold up – Netflix are making a One Day series adaptation?

Yes, yes they are!

ICYMI, we’ve been blessed by the romantic drama gods, and this gorgeous novel by David Nicholl’s is getting a reboot.

In 2011, we got the first adaptation of the book, with a film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.

Fans of the movie will remember how iconic it was back in the day – we all desperately wanted a Dexter Mayhew of our own.

Now, we’ve got two new faces taking on the roles of Dexter and love interest Emma Morley – though we reckon you’ll recognise them!

Here’s EYNTK about the new TV series.

What’s the plot?

If you aren’t familiar, One Day follows the lives of Dexter and Emma, who meet a day before graduating from the University of Edinburgh.

They’re chalk and cheese in personality; Emma is bookish and reserved, Dexter is arrogant and outlandish; but despite going on very different journeys in life, they remain in touch.

Showing little snapshots of their lives over decades, the plot focuses on one day (get it?!) each year as we see the pair reunite and separate, share phone calls, laughter, tears, romance, and grief.

We’ll say no more…

Who’s playing Dexter and Emma?

This one is really exciting!

Taking on the role of Dexter is none other than Leo Woodall of White Lotus.

Fans of the show will remember him as the cocky, cheeky British chap who distracts Portia from his uncle’s plans to murder her boss.

We can totally see why he’s been chosen to play Dex, and we can’t wait to see what he does with it!

For Emma, you may recognise Ambika Mob; she plays the main character of a junior doctor struggling to stay afloat in the hospital drama This Is Going To Hurt.

Once again, a gorgeous casting decision – we can totally see how Ambika will reflect Emma’s intellectual personality.

Exciting!

When is it coming out?

The 14 part series will land on Netflix February 8th 2024 – that’s just two months and a bit away!

We’re counting down the days.
