Here Are The Best And Worst Moments From Last Night’s Emmy Awards
It was quite the event.
From red carpet wins and fails, to historic winners, it is safe to say that last night’s Emmy awards was rather eventful.
Although we cannot possibly cover every single thing that went down on the night, we have decided to round up our five favourite moments, from the good, the bad, and the very very bad.
Red Carpet Twinning
This Is Us stars Mandy Moore and Susan Kelechi showed up to the red carpet wearing pretty much the same outfit. However, they did not act in horror, they simply laughed it off and posed for pictures together. Well why not, they both looked absolutely adorable in their red dress/pink sleeve numbers.
Michelle Williams Called For Equal Pay In Her Acceptance Speech

Michelle Williams won outstanding actress for her portrayal of Broadway dancer Gwen Verdon in Fosse/Verdon. However, she used her acceptance speech as an opportunity to call for equal pay. “So the next time a woman, and especially a woman of color, because she stands to make 52 cents on the dollar compared to her white male counterpart, tells you what she needs in order to do her job, listen to her, believe her. Because one day she might stand in front of you and say thank you for allowing her to succeed because of her workplace environment and not in spite of it.”
They Tried To Go Hostless, And Kind Of Failed
After SNL anchors Michael Che and Colin Jose played host for last years show, the awards decided to go without official hosts this year, which made for some kind of awkward and uncomfortable viewing. The show began with Homer Simpson falling into a black hole, and ended with Bryan Cranston talking about TV. It all made for weird viewing tbh.
Gwendoline Christie Dressed Like A Literal Saint
We are a little unsure as to whether Gwendoline Christie got the correct dress memo or not. But she showed up dressed as an actual Saint, which screamed the Met Gala to us rather than the Emmys, but look, as long as she was happy.
Billy Porter Made History
Winning outstanding lead actor in a drama series. Billy became the first openly gay black man to win an Emmy in the lead actor category, and hurrah to that we say!
Did you tune in?
