Here’s Margot Robbie’s Thoughts On A Barbie Sequel
Margot Robbie is weighing in!
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie took the world by storm, to say the least.
The hit feature film captivated audiences everywhere, and broke some serious records too.
Barbie: The Movie surpassed 1 billion dollars at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing movie at the US box office by a female director, and the most successful film in Ireland’s box office history.

With that in mind, you’d think they’d be rearing to go for round two of the film – but it looks like that’s not going to happen any time soon.
In a new interview with The Associated Press, Margot Robbie (Barbie herself) weighed in on the likelihood of a sequel.
Confessing that the movie was probably a one–and–done, Margot shared, “I think we put everything into this one.
“We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something…Greta put everything into this movie, so I can’t imagine what would be next.”

The Australian actress went on to say that Barbie proves original films can be just as successful as big franchises.
“It doesn’t have to be a sequel or prequel or a remake, it can be totally original!”
Margot’s dismissal of Barbie 2 is echoed by director Greta, who reckons the movie squeezed every aspect it could.
Greta told The New York Times it’s all she’s got “at the moment,” adding, “I think you fall into a bit of a trap if you try and set up a first movie whilst also planning for sequels.”

Speaking of how she gets creatively drained after a big project, Greta admitted, “I feel like that at the end of every movie.
“Like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did.”
Referring again to the possibility of another Barbie, she said while she “wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream,” but “for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero.”
So, there you have it. It doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a sequel to this stellar flick, but not to worry – we’ll happily rewatch it!
