Jenna Ortega: What To Know About Our Favourite Scream Queen

We were graced with yet another cinematographic masterpiece of a music video by Sabrina Carpenter last week.

The bloody and violent ‘Taste’ video stars Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega, and it is safe to say this horror- styled piece suits her perfectly.

The video depicts Carpenter and Ortega fighting over a man. The hilariously violent scenes include Ortega slicing off Carpenter’s arm and Carpenter being shot before falling from the window and impaling herself on a fence. Wild.

But who is Jenna, and what major roles has she taken to date?

Ortega is a 21-year-old American actress. She was born in Palm Desert, California, and is one of six children. She began her acting career at the age of nine by playing young Jane in the American Telenovela Jane the Virgin.

She also starred in the Disney Channel show Stuck in the Middle and was the voice of Princess Isabel in Elena of Avalor.

The actress has become known for her roles in the horror and thriller genres including Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which is due for release in the coming weeks.

Here are a few productions you may recognise the star from.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Ortega stars as Astrid Deetz, the teenage daughter of Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) in the sequel to the original Beetlejuice released in 1988.

The film sees the Deetz family return to their haunted home in Winter River only to find it once again haunted by the troublesome ghost Beetlejuice after Ortega’s character opens the portal.

Miller’s girl

In this drama, Ortega portrays high schooler Cairo Sweet who forms an inappropriate bond with her teacher (Martin Freeman) when he assigns her a writing project.

Scream

The American actress took on the role of Tara Carpenter in the hit horror franchise Scream. She appeared in both the 2022 and 2023 versions.

X

Jenna also appeared in Ti West’s X in 2022. The film tells the story of a group of actors who are filming a porn film on the ranch of a murderous couple.

Jenna found major stardom with her role as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s spinoff. Her character is sent off to a school for outcasts where a string of murders begins taking place.

The Fallout

Ortega stars alongside Maddie Ziegler in The Fallout. The film depicts the traumas of two students following a shooting in their high school.

The actress has also appeared in Netflix series You. The show follows serial killer Joe and his manipulative and murderous tendencies. Ortega stars as Ellie Alves in season two of the series.

Although most of Ortega’s Instagram content is focused on her professional life, her dabbling in the horror movie industry may have rubbed off on her fashion sense. The actress has posted a handful of photos at fashion shows and movie premieres where she is channeling her inner Wednesday Addams.

Jenna is also reported to be taking the lead role as Klara in the film adaptation of the dystopian novel Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. There is not yet a release date for the film.
