The Amount Of Money That’ll Be Spent On This Year’s Oscars Will Probably Shock You

The biggest night in Hollywood doesn't come cheap!

The 91st annual Academy Awards will take place in LA this Sunday and we simply can’t wait to get lost in the lavish lifestyles of our favourite celebs for the night.

While our focus is usually on the red carpet fashion for most of the night, we’ve often wondered how much money goes into making these massive award shows a night to remember.

Ahead of this year’s show, WalletHub have released some facts about Hollywood’s biggest event, and some may leave you, dare we say, shooketh.

This year’s ceremony will cost $44 MILLION to make happen. How could it ever cost so much, you ask? Well, when WalletHub broke it all down, the 16,500-square-foot red carpet costs $24,700 and takes 900 hours to be installed by a crew of 18 workers. Yikes.

If you thought that was it, the estimated value of each 24-karat gold plated oscar statue is $400 each.

And because the actual ceremony itself isn’t enough, most celebs (even the ones not invited) attend a lush after party. The biggest after party each year is by far Vanity Fair’s, and just attending will set a couple back a whopping $103,220.

It’s all worth it in the end, however, because the goodie bag each guest receives at the end of the night is worth upwards of $150k. Last year’s included a trip to Tanzania..literally.

So now you can sit back and watch the Oscars knowing you’ll never know what a $24k carpet feels like beneath your feet. It’s ok…we’re all in the same boat.
