The Hayu Hotlist: Síomha Ní Ruairc, & What’s New For October

STELLAR PROMOTION: All the updates you need.

Struggling to find something new to watch and love a bit of reality TV?

Then it’s time to look to the home of all things The Real Housewives, Below Deck and a ton of reality classics – Hayu! This month, TV presenter Síomha Ní Ruairc tells us what she’s been streaming…

What show first brought you into the world of Hayu?

It was the classic gateway show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I think it was Camille Grammar who fully sucked me in – she was a great villain. Also, the OPULENCE of Beverly Hills.

Which is your favourite Housewives city?

I don’t think anything will ever beat the original The Real Housewives of New York City. I’m currently on my fourth rewatch and it’s my comfort blanket. There’s just something soothing to me in Ramona Singer’s lack of control over her bowels…

Who’s your favourite Housewife and why?

I swing between Sonja Morgan, Nene Leakes and Kandi Burress. They’re mostly OGs aren’t they?! The OG Housewives are the most fun, I like them rough around the edges.

Most iconic/hilarious Housewives moment?

I love when the tres amigos in The Real Housewives of Orange County dance to Vicki’s ring tone when they’re all locked! Vicki’s dancing and whooping it up thrills me.

Fave quotes from Hayu shows?

“Gimme pizza you old troll” – Melania Giudice, The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Or “Your husband’s in the pool”, from Marge. The Jersey accent makes it all so quotable.

Have you found any hidden gems on Hayu?

Luann & Sonja: Welcome To Crappie Lake – I’m not sure it’s quite a hidden gem but it’s a good watch when you’ve finished the obvious ones!

If you were a Real Housewife, what would your tagline be?

If I want something, there’s nothing I won’t get down on my knees for (a reference to the fact that I proposed to my partner… It’s giving Brynn Whitfield!)

What’s your favourite thing about reality TV?

The absolute, pure escapism! I actually need to start confronting situations rather than turning to Housewives… Also the bonding opportunities it provides me with my friends. We have a dedicated WhatsApp group to dissect whatever any of us are watching!

Any new shows or new seasons of Hayu faves you’re looking forward to?

I am loving the new The Real Housewives of New York City reboot, it’s really surprised me. Maybe it’ll be my new comfort show.

If you’re looking for some inspiration on where to start, here are some of the gems available on Hayu now… and a taste of what’s coming very soon!
