Here’s Which Challenge You Won’t Be Seeing On Love Island This Season

We won't miss this one.

Love Island season nine is on the way!

This season is sure to have plenty of drama, romance and surprises. But not everything from previous seasons is making a comeback. Left out of this upcoming season is the not-so-popular food challenge – and to be honest, we’re pretty happy about this dumping.

Many viewers over the years have said that the food challenges are disgusting, and we have to agree – no one really wants to watch the contestants pass food and drink between each other’s mouths.

However, it was not the disgust of the audience that is prompting this change. According to The UK Sun, the challenge was scrapped because the show is aiming to be less wasteful and more environmentally cautious.

A source told the publication: “There are going to be lots of activity-based challenges this series to make up for the lack of food ones. Bosses decided it was time to move on food wastage as they try and be as environmentally friendly as possible.”

We love to see the Love Island bosses embracing their eco-friendly sides!

Even though that’s one challenge that the islanders won’t have to do this year, it definitely won’t be an easy summer. There are plenty of other games lined up for the new contestants, and if they want a night in the hideaway they better be up to the challenge.

The new season of Love Island is scheduled to air on ITV on June 5th at 9pm.
